10 in 10 Diet Weekend
"Retreat from Industrial Food
"

A residential hands-on cooking weekend
with Lynn Shwadchuck.

Friday April 9- Sunday April 11, 2010
 Wintergreen Studios

here in Eastern Ontario.

The 10 in 10 Diet is a total system that makes it easy to stop eating meat and cook healthy food conveniently while keeping your grocery bill under $150 a month per person, and reducing our contribution to climate change – with a goal in mind of 10% reduction of CO2 in 2010. It's a way to fast track to a simpler, more peaceful life. It's totally possible to really enjoy food while eating more like the majority of people in the world.

The retreat will be a busy, fun, yummy, spa-like gathering of like-minded souls in a unique off-grid, eco center set in the spring woods. We'll live and cook much of the 10 in 10 Diet, inspiring you to take it up at home, where you can reap its benefits. Even if you just want to be able to cook for vegetarian friends and relatives, you'll come away with everything you need to know and have a relaxing weekend and make new friends. There'll be a live concert on Saturday evening, so we'll be cooking up dinner for the audience.

Registration details and program will be on the Wintergreen Studios website soon. Maximum registration: 17 people. Prices will vary according to privacy of accommodation, $200 and up.

Approximate driving times to Wintergreen from:
  • Kingston: 50 minutes
  • Toronto: 3.5 hours
  • Ottawa: 2 hours
  • Montreal: 4 hours
  • Syracuse, NY: 3.5 hours

2 hour tasting workshop, "Making the Most of Beans"

This is a preparation-intensive class that provides inspiration and direct experience with relying on legumes and whole grains for protein while cooking for health, convenience and grocery savings. Download the pdf plan here.

I have detailed here how to run and promote the workshop, for people who are living the 10 in 10 Diet. It's a pdf of a few pages. You just need a big kitchen with a large surface in the middle to run a class for 12 participants.

There's the option of hiring me to coach you through the prep and even Skype me in to the class.

Email me to discuss this.

Feedback from the January 23 Sharbot Lake 2 hr. workshop:

"Thanks for a fun afternoon, and lots of ideas. I'd already downloaded your recipes from your website, but trying them out makes me more likely to attempt some of them myself. I particularly liked the black & red lentil one."

"The "bean day" was yummy...although I missed most of it, it looked to be a very good day for everyone who took part. Thank you Lynn."

"I'm very inspired, and can hardly wait to put what I learned into action. I got answers to questions I've had for a long time and learned more than expected in a very short time without it feeling rushed."
