I never appreciated what all the fuss was about fresh herbs until my partner Craig expressed an interest in having a small round herb garden in addition to our vegetable garden. He dug up a circle and I plunked in a few plants – gifts and garden center purchases. I kept it weeded and Craig kept it watered, but still I wondered – why bother? Then I had an idea for a stuffing-like casserole and used some sage and thyme from the little clumps that had grown up. Yum! Double yum! Then later I put together a medley that included tomatoes from the garden and I used some of our oregano and basil from the local farmer's market. Oh, my – not harsh like the dried stuff from the store. It's so easy. And then I froze baggies of the leaves. Life is good.
